New English Assistant

Hello! My name is Ethan Koopman and I will be working as the English Assistant at the Petershagen Gymnasium this school year. I am 25 years old and my birthday is February 6^th. I am from a farm in northeastern Nebraska, near the small town of Battle Creek, where I have lived my entire life surrounded by cows, chickens, horses, and even peacocks. I graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2015 and studied German and Math, and I plan on returning after this year of Fulbright to pursue my Masters in German, foreign language education, and math education.

In my spare time I like to read, especially classic German literature (I’m always open to suggestions as well!). I like to play sports when I can, and travelling is also something I love. This is my first time in Minden and Petershagen, so I am looking to exploring the region! This is my second year of Fulbright, my first year was spent at a FOS/BOS in Munich where I helped with the Theater AG, went to Garmisch on a class trip with my students and teachers, and went to area schools giving presentations about life in the USA.
